RICHMOND, VA // October 30, 2017 – MEDARVA Healthcare, the parent company of Stony Point Surgery Center, announced today that it has opened its second independent ambulatory surgery center in West Creek Medical Park in Goochland County.

MEDARVA West Creek Surgery Center has received the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services accreditation; therefore, it will be able to accept Medicare and Medicaid coverd patients. It is 6,600 square feet and has two operating rooms. Similar to Stony Point Surgery Center, surgeons and patients will be able to utilize the new location for outpatient surgeries such as: eye and cataract, ENT, gastro, facial and plastic surgery, orthopedics, gynecology and colonoscopies. An additional phase II section will open in the fourth quarter of 2017 and include four procedure rooms within 19,000 square fee. In total when completed, MEDARVA’s West Creek Surgery Center will consist of 25,000 square feet.

“Due to Virginia’s COPN (Certificate of Public Need) process, this surgery center was delayed for more than two years, but it has now become a reality,” said Bruce Kupper, president and CEO of MEDARVA Healthcare. “The patient need for what we offer is greater today than when we first applied for approval to build the surgery center. Being centrally located with easy access to major highways and interstates makes this an attractive location for patients and surgeons. We are now open and are excited about what the future holds.”

The new surgery center will be open to independent surgeons or others from surrounding hospital systems, who apply for and are granted privileges to operate at the location. An ambulatory surgery center is often attractive to surgeons because it allows them to more efficiently manage their time and is less expensive for the patient than a traditional hospital.

Conveniently accessible by three major interstates: Route 288, I-64 and I-295, the West Creek Medical Park provides surrounding communities with high-quality, low cost medical services in a comforting environment.
