Experience

After graduation, he returned to Virginia where he completed a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Virginia. During residency, he contributed to the specialty by presenting original research at national meetings and publishing several papers and text book chapters. He was honored to be nominated for the Mulholland Resident and Fellow Teaching Award during his chief resident year. His propensity to teach informs his image of the ideal physician-patient relationship: one based on mutual understanding and clear communication. Dr. Fishero enjoys a wide range of otolaryngology including management of sinus disease, head and neck cancer, skin cancer, ear disease (hearing loss, dizziness, Eustachian tube dysfunction), facial trauma, reconstructive surgery, and pediatric otolaryngology.

Education

While Dr. Fishero is a native Texan, he attended college in Lexington where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in biology at Washington and Lee University. After completing his undergraduate education, Dr. Fishero attended medical school at the University of Texas where he was inducted into the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha and received the Aust award for high achievement in his surgical clerkship. While in medical school, he worked as a teaching assistant for three courses including his favorite, head and neck anatomy.

Profile

After having spent nine years between Lexington and Charlottesville, Dr. Fishero and his wife call Virginia home. Their family, which includes twin boys, is excited to be joining the Richmond community. When not at work, Dr. Fishero enjoys traveling, exploring Richmond’s restaurants, playing golf, watching college football, and chasing after his children.
