Dr. Cheatham specializes in orthopaedic surgery.

Experience

Dr. Cheatham joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at VCU Medical Center in 2009. He has been the president of the Richmond Orthopaedic Club since 2010 and is also currently on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Orthopaedic Society. In 2013, Dr. Cheatham was recognized as one of Richmond Magazine’s “Top Docs” in sports medicine. He is also a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Practice

Dr. Cheatham specializes in orthopaedic sports medicine including ACL reconstructions, multiligamentous knee reconstructions, meniscal repairs, cartilage restoration, rotator cuff repairs, and arthroscopic shoulder stabilizations. As part of his practice, Dr. Cheatham also serves as a team physician for Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Union University and the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Education

Dr. Cheatham received his undergraduate degree from Emory University before going to medical school at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Kentucky. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and licensed by Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Medicine.

Profile

Dr. Cheatham lives in Richmond with his wife Pae and their dog Brady. He enjoys taking care of all athletes and looks forward to the NCAA basketball tournament every March.
