Specialty - Back

Your back is your body’s main support system. It is composed of a chain of bones (the vertebral column) connected to each other and to your limbs and head by ligaments and muscles; it also helps form the ribcage protecting your heart and lungs. It’s flexible, strong and complex, and when one part of your body is not working correctly, your back will often hurt as well.

There are many kinds of effective pain management available to people with back pain. They range from physical therapy and strengthening techniques to behavior modification, to medications or – rarely -- surgery; combinations are often used as well. Interventional Spine Care, a highly-specialized subspecialty of orthopedics, allows the physician to pinpoint and treat the source of the pain with precision using minimally-invasive techniques.
